ESL COURSES

ESL courses are designed to meet the different needs of the many international students who come to the US to study English each year.
Some of the English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and programs available in the USA include, but are not limited to:
- conversational English
- English for specific purposes (English for business, English for law, English for engineering, English for medical purposes, etc.)
- custom English programs for groups
- university or college preparation
- high school preparation
- integrated programs (read, write, listen, speak)
- child/youth programs (for students 12 years old and younger)
- intensive English programs (IEP)
- ESL for business executives
- teacher training programs (CELTA/TESL/TESOL, etc.)
- English proficiency and test preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS)
- tailored programs for individuals
These programs may be offered at the beginner, intermediate or advanced level. They may be semester programs, summer programs, or camps, and program length varies between 1 week and up to a year. ESL courses may also focus on specific components of the English language, such as vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing or oral skills.
ESL courses also differ depending on where you take them: ESL for international students in available at universities, colleges, public high schools, private high schools, private language colleges and online schools. In addition, the different courses and programs may also lead to different goals; some award you a certificate, while others are non-credit language skills upgrading. ESL courses can be taken singly, or students can take several in a row in order to build on their previous learning.
