MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Medical examination requirements may be part of the F-1 student visa application process. The visa office in charge of your case will make determine whether or not this is necessary for you. The purpose of the medical examination requirement is to protect the health and safety of US citizens, as well to avoid placing undue stress on the health and social services system.

Only certain officially recognized professionals can carry out the medical examination: a civil surgeon specifically designated by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) must perform the examination. If a medical examination is deemed necessary, you can consult the USCIS website to locate the nearest designated civil surgeon.
